Implementing hreflang can be a challenging task for many SEOs. The countless syntax variations across several languages can be difficult for those with little understanding of more than one language. NerdyData provided a list of 18,786 websites that contain at least one instance of hreflang declaring an alternate within the source code.

The new document now reads, “Generally, Google can only crawl your link if it’s an <a> HTML element (also known as anchor element ) with an href attribute. Google can’t reliably extract URLs from <a> elements that don’t have an href attribute or other tags that perform as links because of script events.

The business implications and costs associated with SSR migration are not worth the high effort and low impact. Unless an enterprise website is built from the ground up to be server-side rendered or is going through a website migration already, there’s rarely a reason to migrate to SSR. And that was probably a conservative estimate. Tap into that.

In case you missed the latest podcast episode of Search Off the Record, Google’s Gary Ilyes stirred up some controversy when he made a comment about HTML structure not mattering much for SEO. He later clarified on Linkedin that “not mattering much” doesn’t mean “doesn’t matter at all.” Still, that didn’t stop any of the SEO controversy.
